The Saga Heritage Foundation board of directors consists of a group of people who have dedicated large parts of their lives and professional careers to the promotion and dissemination of cultural heritage. We believe that our work establishes a bridge linking the past, present and future in the service of our collective memory in order to cultivate greater understanding of the human project for the benefit of all.

Our motto is a quote from Marcus Tullius Cicero (106 BC-43 BC), as inscribed by Thormod Torfæus on the title page of his Danish Flateyjarbok translation in 1660: “Historia vero testis temporum, lux veritatis, vita memoriae, magistra vitae, nuntia vetustatis...”, meaning: History is truly the witness of times, the light of truth, the life of memory, the teacher of life, the messenger of antiquity.
